ZANACO SUPPORTS CISNA
(First Published 15th February 2009)
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Pensions
and Insurance Authority recently jointly hosted the bi-annual
conference and the 10th anniversary celebrations for the
Committee on Insurance, Securities and Non-banking authorities
in Livingstone. The event was held in conjunction with the
Committee on Insurance, Securities and Non-banking Authorities
(CISNA). CISNA is an organization which comprises regulators
of capital markets, retirement funds, collective investment
schemes and insurance companies in the SADC member states
and is tasked together with other co-related institutions
to promote the objectives of SADC in the Financial Sector.
CISNA also sets standards for the conduct of non-banking
financial business in the region in line with international
best practice.
The committee amongst its many other objectives also promotes
the development and harmonization of the regulatory frameworks
in member countries as they seek to move towards a regional
common market and greater economic integration. To this
end CISNA holds bi-annual meetings in different states on
a rotational basis and Zambia was the host this time around.
As a major player in the financial sector in Zambia, Zanaco
was called upon to help the committee host this important
event successfully by way of sponsoring one of themajor
activities during the event. Attended by participants from
the region, including some Zanaco members of staff from
Institutional Banking, the event was a success. Zanaco was
accorded the privilege to address the audience on the Bank’s
products and services as well as space to display and distribute
promotional materials during the conference. The organizing
committee of the event sincerely thanked Zanaco for the
tremendous contribution rendered.
