ZANACO DONATES TO NC'HWALA
(First published 22nd February 2009)
Zanaco recently donated to Nc'hwala in its bid to help preserve
Zambia's cultural heritage as part its corporate social
responsibility. The ceremony, prestigious not only to the
Ngoni people of Eastern Zambia but to the entire nation
,is held every year at Mtenguleni Village in Chipata.
Corporate Social Responsibility Manager Caroline Handia
explained that Zanaco attaches great importance to traditional
ceremonies as they not only preserved our cultural heritage,
but afforded the Bank the opportunity to be close to the
communities it serves. She further added that traditional
ceremonies were also platforms to highlight and share with
people the importance of Financial Literacy which is one
of Zanaco's agenda for its CSR programme.
"We saw the opportunity to educate the people of Zambia
on financial matters because so many people attend the ceremony.
The education sessions will take the form of sketches that
will be performed by local dram groups of the province.
We are confident that using such events as tools to educate
the public on financial matters will go a long way in helping
Zambia raise a nation of savers" she said.
