EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT
TEAM PROFILE
We pride ourselves in having qualified and
experienced men and women who lead the Zanaco team in the
execution of duties. Their experience and knowledge facilitates
the creation of an enabling work environment for all staff
to soar to their highest potential translating into maximum
utilisation of human resources in the organizations. These
talented men and women mentor and coach other members of
the Zanaco team ultimately increasing work out-put and revenue.
Martyn H. Schouten,
Managing Director
A Dutch national, Martyn aged
53 was appointed Managing Director in December 2010. He
has 26 years senior management experience in retail and
corporate banking having held positions in strategy, business
development, product development and corporate support.
He has worked in diverse countries such as Nigeria, Sri
Lanka, Hungary, England, the Netherlands, India, the United
States, Turkey and Jamaica. He is responsible for managing
the strategic direction, the restructuring and positioning,
and the day to day operations management of the company.
He holds a Masters Degree in Economics.
Edward Mutale, Finance
Director
Aged 50, Edward was appointed
Finance Director in October 2005. He has 18 years auditing,
accounting, and financial management experience at Zanaco
and previously worked for Zambia State Insurance Corporation
(ZSIC) and Coopers and Lybrand. Edward is responsible for
management accounting and financial reporting, budgetary
process and budgeting, financial management, prudential
management and reporting, cost management, management information
systems and projects around management information systems
re-alignment. He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree
and is a Fellow of both the Chartered Accountants UK and
Zambia Institute of Certified Accountants.
Ignatius Mwanza, Director
-Corporate Banking
Aged 47, Ignatius joined the
Bank in October 2009. Prior to that he worked for Stanbic
Bank Zambia from 2005 as Head Wholesale Banking and later
set up the Investment Banking Unit which he headed until
joining Zanaco. He previously worked for Standard Chartered
Bank Zambia in various roles including Treasurer, Senior
Relationship Manager in Corporate Banking in Zambia and
London and Head Sales Corporate Banking. Prior to this,
he worked at the Bank of Zambia and his last job was Senior
Manager Bureaux De Change Operations.
He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA),
Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) of
the United Kingdom and a Diploma in Accountancy.
Arjan Poels, Director
Retail Banking
Arjan, aged 37, was appointed
Director Retail Banking on March 2010. He has 10 years management
experience in Retail Banking, of which the last three years
was with NMB, Tanzania's largest bank. He is responsible
for managing the branch network, customer service, sales,
product development and support, public relations, marketing
and projects around the distribution model and process re-engineering.
Arjan holds a Master of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Tom Borghols, Director
Risk
Tom aged 54, was appointed
Director of Risk in June 2010. He has a broad background
of banking experience, having previously worked with ABN
AMBRO Bank, then Fortis Bank and subsequently with Rabobank.
During his more than 25 years of experience in banking he
has held positions in Commercial, Risk, Corporate and Retail,
varying from relationship manager to branch manager and
country manger. His banking career has taken him beyond
the Netherlands to Curacao in the Caribbean, Kenya and in
Rwanda, where he held his last appointment with Banque Populaire
du Rwanda before taking up his appointment with Zanaco in
Zambia.
Sonny Katowa, Director
Corporate Support
Sonny, aged 44, was appointed
Director Corporate Support in October 2006. He has 18 years
experience in IT and communication, general administration,
transaction processing and operations management. He is
responsible for general administration involving real estate,
procurement, outsourcing, security and fleet management,
information technology and ICT infrastructure management,
transaction processing and operations management and projects
related to premises and real estate. In addition, he has
vast knowledge and experience in project management, systems
analysis and design. Sonny holds a Bachelor of Science degree
in Maths and Computer Science.
Ngenda Nyambe, Director-
Treasury and Investment Management
Aged 38, Ngenda was appointed
Director - Treasury and Investment Management when he joined
Zanaco and the Executive Committee in November of 2008.
Prior to that, he had been Country Treasurer of Barclays
Bank Zambia.
Ngenda started his career in banking at Stanbic Zambia in
1996 after graduating from the University of Zambia. He
later joined the Standard Chartered Bank Graduate Trainee
Programme in July 1997, before going on to hold various
senior roles in the global markets division.
Ngenda then moved to Barclays Bank Zambia in August 2003
as Head of Market Making and Liquidity Management. He was
made Country Treasurer and member of the Country Management
Committee in March of 2005 where he led a revival in the
fortunes of the business and acted in other senior executive
roles as Corporate Director and Managing Director
A keen soccer fan, Ngenda is married and a father of three
children.
Chimango Chikwanda,
Director-Human Resources and Training
Chimango, aged 37 was appointed
Director-Human Resources and Training effective June 1st,
2011.
She has over 6 years of Executive-level experience as Director
Human Resources, most recently at Zain Zambia and prior
to that at Zambian Breweries Plc. Prior to these positions,
she worked as a Strategic Human Resource Consultant at KPMG
and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Chimango holds a Masters Degree
in Consulting and Coaching for Change (Oxford and HEC) as
well as a Masters Degree in Economics (University of Warwick).
Chikwanda is married and a mother of three children
Hamish I Chipungu,
Director - Internal Audit
Hamish, aged 46, was appointed
Director -Internal Audit in January 2011. He has 18 years
experience gained through external and internal auditing,
Bank Supervision, Non Bank Financial Institutions Supervision
and Financial Management & Information System. His experience
was gained at the Bank of Zambia and KPMG which is one of
the big four audit firms.
Hamish performs high level professional internal auditing
work as a key component of the corporate governance structure.
His work involves directing a comprehensive audit program
including performance, financial and compliance audit projects;
providing consulting services to the bank’s management and
staff; providing direction to developing of the Annual Audit
Plan; and providing ongoing training, coaching and supervision
to Internal Audit staff. Hamish is a Fellow of the Association
of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and is a Certified
Internal Auditor (CIA).
Suzyo Ng'andu, Bank
Secretary
Suzyo Ng'andu, aged 42 is the
Bank Secretary responsible for providing Corporate Secretarial
Services to the Board of Directors. Having completed a Bachelor
of Sciences Degree in Land Economy in 1992, Suzyo began
her career in Property Management at the mining conglomerate
Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines Limited. She later joined
the Company Secretarial field and worked at KPMG providing
Secretarial services to various clients. Thereafter, she
joined ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc , a Company listed
on both the Lusaka and London Stock Exchanges, before being
appointed Company Secretary of BP Zambia Plc, the largest
Oil marketing company in Zambia in 2006. She joined Zanaco
in 2008.
