Zanaco donates to Levy Mwanawasa Hospital - Friday, 31th March, 2017

Zambia National Commercial Bank Plc (Zanaco), today donated K39,500.00 worth of support to the Levy Mwanawasa Hospital Management. The donation will cover costs for a 10,000 litre water tank which will improve water supply to critical sections such as the maternity wing and theatre. It will also cover costs for the purchase of financial education training of trainers materials for members of staff.

The donation forms part of the Financial Literacy Week campaign running from 27th March to 2nd April 2017 under the theme: ‘Learn.Plan.Afford – to meet Key Life Events’. The hospital was chosen based on the important role it plays in family planning and birth of children as a major life event that can be used as a teachable moment. Families are filled with joy and they all want to do what is best for the child. Financial education will be mainstreamed in existing health education programmes enabling sustainability of activities. 

Speaking at the event, Zanaco Managing Director Mr. Henk Mulder said that Zanaco was committed to implementing various activities under the Bank’s CSR Programme which forms the basis of economic empowerment which ultimately helps to improve the economy of Zambia as a whole. He added that the Bank was happy to participate in the commemoration of the Financial Literacy Week whose theme fits in very well with activities that the Bank are involved in. ‘’The theme fits in well with the Bank’s Financial Fitness programme. In the course of their lives, people experience the birth of a child as a Key Life Event which is associated with higher levels of responsibility and financial obligations.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Hospital Management, Acting Superintendent Dr. Mkwandawire thanked Mr. Mulder for the gesture saying that the donation will go a long way in improving the quality of service delivery at the Hospital.
