We were delighted to host this year’s Zanaco Climate Finance Symposium under the theme, “Making Green Projects Bankable: What Investors Want” on Wednesday 6th, 2025.
The Symposium brought together policymakers, climate finance experts, investors and investees for initiatives that address climate change effects.
The Minister of Energy Hon. Makozo Chikote graced the occasion as guest of honor. He remarked that the main challenge the energy sector faced was implementation of ideas, and that there was need for more institutions to provide solutions to the challenges the country was facing.
Zanaco Acting Chief Executive Officer Kalengo Simukoko reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting the energy sector through financing and technical support. He also stated that the bank had at the time financed approximately ZMW1.2 billion worth of renewable energy projects which included, among others, $40 million solar power plant with many more in the pipeline.
This year’s Symposium was yet another step in putting customers and Zambia first by providing platforms that create opportunity for dialogue and action in implementing initiatives in climate finance.
