Wisdom Shanengeta is a seasoned banking executive and technology leader with over 28 years of experience in the financial services industry, spanning banking operations, consumer banking, technology leadership, business transformation, innovation, and digital strategy. Throughout his career, he has held several senior leadership positions within some of Zambia’s leading financial institutions, where he has successfully driven operational excellence, organizational transformation, and technology modernization initiatives. His extensive experience has enabled him to build a strong reputation as a strategic leader capable of aligning business objectives with innovative technology solutions to deliver sustainable growth and enhanced customer experiences.
Wisdom’s leadership journey began at Stanbic Bank Zambia as a Branch Manager, before progressing to senior operational roles including Head of Country Consumer Operations and Head of Operations at Barclays Bank Zambia Plc, where he was responsible for driving operational efficiency, service excellence, and business performance. He later rejoined Stanbic Bank Zambia Limited as Head of Operations and subsequently served as Core Banking Transformation Project Director, leading strategic transformation programmes focused on modernizing banking systems and improving service delivery. He was later appointed Chief Information Officer (CIO) and subsequently Chief Technology and Operations Officer (CTOO) at Stanbic Bank, where he provided executive leadership across technology, operations, innovation, and digital transformation functions.
As the Chief Information Officer at Zanaco, Wisdom leads the Bank’s technology and digital transformation agenda, ensuring that technology investments support strategic business priorities while enhancing operational resilience, cybersecurity, innovation, and customer-centric service delivery. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Business, a Master’s Degree in Leading Innovation and Change, a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Studies, a Diploma in Financial Services Management, and a Diploma in Project Management accredited to Cambridge University Project Managers, in addition to professional certifications in Banking and Finance and Financial Accounting. Recognized for his transformational leadership style, strategic vision, and commitment to innovation, Wisdom continues to play a pivotal role in advancing technology-driven transformation and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence within the banking sector.
