Why is the Core Banking System being upgraded?

The Core Banking System upgrade is necessitated by various opportunities such as;

  • Improved security
  • Improved system performance
  • Improved services and products
When is the Upgrade?

The upgrade shall take place from 5th July to 8th July 2025.

Will branches be operational during the upgrade?

All Zanaco branches will be open on Saturday, 5th July 2025 from 08:30hrs to 11:00hrs to ensure uninterrupted access to essential banking services such as deposits and withdrawals during this transition.  

Sunday, 6th July, and during the upcoming public holidays on Monday, 7th July and Tuesday, 8th July 2025, all branches will be open from 09:00hrs to 12:00hrs.

Normal branch operations will resume on Wednesday, 9th July, 2025.

Will internet banking and mobile banking be available during the upgrade?

Internet banking and mobile banking will not be available during the upgrade.

Will ATMs be available during the upgrade?

ATMs will be available for withdrawals during the upgrade.

Can I use my debit card during the upgrade period?
  • Debit cards can be used for ATM, POS and online VISA transactions.
  • Settlement of VISA transactions shall be after 72 hours.
Will account numbers change?

Account numbers will remain the same.

Will account balances change?

Account balances will remain the same.

Can I receive or send money transfers during the upgrade?

Money transfers will not be available across the various channels of Internet banking and mobile banking during the upgrade. (SWIFT, RTGS, DDACC, NFS, Internal transfers)

Will Zanaco Xpress Agents be available during the upgrade?

Banking services on the Zanaco Xpress Agencies will not be available during the upgrade.

Will my financial history be preserved and available after the upgrade?
  • Old financial history will be preserved and available to customers upon request.
  • New statements shall be available and have a start date from the upgrade date.
